Why You Should Make Choosing Cruelty Free a New Years Resolution – Blogmas Day 19

The new year is a time to make changes. Or so they say. And although I do not tend to keep all of my New Years resolutions, there are some important life changes that have stuck. Going cruelty free has been one of them and I am hoping it will be one for you too.

There are so many reasons for going cruelty free, the biggest being to save animals from undergoing cruel procedures for the sake of beauty. Animals have rights and shouldn’t be subjected to cruel and degrading treatment for the sake of a new lipstick or face wash. Animal cosmetic testing is outdated and wrong. Just in case that’s not enough, or to further support this decision, I will outline a few more reasons for going cruelty free in 2017.

By choosing cruelty free, you are inadvertently advancing science. To be cruelty free and still be safe, cosmetic companies have developed and continue to develop new testing techniques. Being cruelty free supports these practices and encourages innovation in this area.

Buying cruelty free is also making a conscious consumer choice. I am a believer in consumers having a say in the marketplace and impacting upon brands and company decisions. By showing support to cruelty free companies we can tell the big non cruelty free brands that we don’t like what they’re doing and if they want our support (i.e. our money) then they will need to change their practices. By supporting cruelty free companies we are solidifying our approval of their decisions and morals. We can change the cosmetic marketplace.

Finally, buying cruelty free makes you feel good. I know this may seem selfish, but I feel good when I buy cruelty free because I am sticking to my morals and sticking it to the man. I am showing my support for animal rights and still looking good. So I encourage you to choose cruelty free in 2017. If you don’t know where to start, I would recommend my blog (obviously) for lots of cruelty free brand and product recommendations, but also PETA and Choose Cruelty Free.

Thanks so much for reading, let me know in the comments if you will choose cruelty free in the new years. Christina xo
